Lake Illumeni - Professor Vantian's Lab

Vantian smirked ever so slighty when his prediction came true. "M.A.I.D", he began. "The door". The words had barely left his lips before the automaton moved to open the door and welcome the man outside with a: 'Greetings, I am Mechanical Artifically Intelligent Drone, or M.A.I.D for short, how can I be of assistance?". She recieved the ledger from the man, examined the seal thorughly, as if processing something, and then gestured for the man to come in, closing and locking the door behind him. 'Everything seem to be in order, Master', she simply replied.

Vantian put a hand to his chest and made a quick yet elegant bow to the man. "Greetings", he started. "According to M.A.I.D, you are here as per our agreement. What is it about this time?". Vantian's voice was neither rude nor hostile, but as business-like and matter-of-factly as always. He was never a suckup, but neither did he look down on people either, and thus preferred to just keep things professional.

While the man entered and was greeted by Professor Azim, M.A.I.D went into the little side room that served as a kitchen and came back with a tray sporting two smoking cups of tea. 'Tea, sir?', she asked the visitor, holding the tray up to him.

M.A.I.D looked a little disappointed, or as much as her inanimate face allowed, at least, when the man declined the offer, and moved the tray over to her master who took a cup from the tray. "Thank you, M.A.I.D", he complimented, and it was almost as if her mood was visibly lifted, and whether or not it was a design feature or not was unknown, but it was as if she walked with more spring in her step as she headed back towards the kitchen with the other cup of tea. She was almost eerily human-like at times, and Vantian congratulated himself in his mind for just how well of a job he had done.

The messenger spoke plainly, which he could respect, but when he said 'The boss', he had to force himself not to grimace. 'Boss' sounded so.. thuggish. What happened to 'Mr.Soleil', or 'my superior' or something? Ugh. Oh well, he wasn't going to discuss eloquence with this man, only business. The whole 'payment drop-off' thing was a bit of a hassle, but he could always send M.A.I.D to pick it up if he wanted, or do so on his way back to the capital. It worked for now, so he accepted the method.

The messenger then asked him if there were any developments of interest, and now Vantian's eye shone up with excitement. He adjusted his glasses and cleared his throat. "Have you perhaps heard of a beamos before? I suppose you haven't. Regardless, Mr.Soleil has, and he will like to hear that I am currently working on a way to focus the beam they emitt in a much narrower, yet slightly weaker, version, small enough to be fit into a handheld weapon. To put it in simple terms, I am making a beam-emitting handheld weapon, which, while not nearly as deadly as their larger counterpart, it by far more accurate and deadly than any ranged weaponry of today. Once this is done, I will be able to produce weapons capable of very long-range combat without any dropff in accuracy, regardless of weather conditions. It will be small enough to be held with two hands, and in time, perhaps even only one hand".

He made a little pause. He didn't care whether the man was impressed or not, he wasn't that vain, and not everyone shared his vision or ambition, which was fine. "You can tell Mr.Soleil I am mere days, perhaps even hours, away from discovering how to properly power the core for such miniaturized usage without damaging it, and that when I have achieved that, the weapon will be ready for testing. He can send a message if he wishes to test it himself, or if I shall have it tested, he will know where to send said message". 

The Shiekah Scientist stood up and went to the table where he had stood mere moments before, picking up the notes he had placed there earlier. He tore out the pages describing the project he had just told the messenger about and handed it to them. These were OBVIOUSLY copies, as he had the real blueprints in his pocket book. The sketches he gave Soleil never had any specifics or measurments, only enough detail and artistic drawings so Soleil got precisely the idea of what he was paying for, but never enough information so he could have it produced by anyone else. Vantian would NEVER let any rank amateur scientist dabble with his inventions, as they'd hold back and not dare test it to its limits, and thus fail.

He handed the sketches over to the messenger, containing drawings of a contraption similar to a flintlock weapon, but two-handed, and instead of the usual black-powder mechanism, it held a beamos core and some other components (that Vantian left out, at least the most relevant ones, only revealing what was necessary for Soleil to know), that allowed said contraption, in theory, to produce a more concentrated version of the ray that the beamos emitted. While not quite as dense or powerful as the original one emitted by beamos, its range and accuracy was FAR superior to the primitive bows and arrows used by all and everyone.

"Here, bring this back to Mr.Soleil", he simply said. "Now, tell me of this 'final thing' we have left to discuss". Vantian adjusted his glasses again, awaiting the man's response.

Not that he believed in any way that the man was threat, but M.A.I.D walked up to her master, standing behind him, and Vantian heard the usual hum from the core that powered her. It was speeding up a little, meaning she prepared something. Most likely she was preparing her weapons just in case, keeping them sheathed but ready for use withing the blink of an eye. The messenger however, would not know any difference. To him the automaton would make a little more buzz, that was all.

Was that all? Hardly a challenge. The Shiekah made communication with each other over long distance long before the Hylians even thought of the idea. Naturally he wouldn't want to betray his own people's trade secrets, but he had the tools for the job.

M.A.I.D had already walked away to go get exactly what they needed, and came back moments later. "Thank you, M.A.I.D, I could not ask for a more effective assistant", he complimented again, and as expresionless as her face was, one could almost FEEL how she beamed with joy at his words. "Give this to Mr.Soleil as well. It is a device that allows him to transmit an illusory version of himself from his device, to mine over there", he said, point over his shoulder with his thumb at a similar device. "With it, he can communicate at incredibly long ranges with me here. If he wants more of them, he will have to wait as I build new ones, as I only have these two at the moment".

A few hours later, Vantian's device would hum with signs of activity. It began to form from the top down the image of the sheikah, dressed in his formalwear. Casually, as the image cascaded down and neared completion, he examined his own hand as well as the surroundings, then nodded briefly to himself.

"Remarkable.", he spoke aloud. Now in full likeness of a living being, Soleil maintained a composed posture, hands behind his back.
