A tall, lanky man, standing at an impressive 1.95m tall (6'4), Vantian looks like you'd imagine a Shiekah looks like. He has long, silver-white hair, red eyes and a very well-defined face. He is almost always seen wearing his blue shirt and beige lab coat, accompanied by a red tie. His trousers are of the same beige color as his lab coat, and his black shoes go well with the entire outfit. His stylish attire aside, he is not afraid to get down into the nitty gritty when it comes to dabbling with machines, and hanging from his belt are various tools used in his field, alongside a journal in his inner pocket of the lab coat, in which he writes down all his research and discoveries.

In contrast to what people would think of scientists as shy, nerdy researchers, Vantian is confident, charismatic and suave. He is popular among the ladies and is often the one speaking to the higher ups when it comes to briefing them on the Shiekah Research & Development departments successes and failures. He is a smooth-talker to those around him, and generally likeable. He tends to be patient and sympathetic to others but he doesn't always say kind 'things' so to speak. He is straight to the point and very matter-of-factly, he just delivers his words in a likeable, polite way, living his life by facts and numbers.

He is also highly ambitious, often strecthing technology to its limits, trying to explore every detail, every nook and cranny of what ever he comes across and how to use it to its fullest potential.

Background: Vantian Azim grew up in a Shiekah Tribe, like most Shiekah. However at a young age he displayed a strenght of mind rather than a strength of weaponry, and thus became a researcher instead of a ninja or an assassin, as was common among his tribe. Already while growing up he was inventive and witty, coming up with clever solutions to the problems presented to him during his training, prefering sometimes rather unorthodox methods to solve everyday problems, and also increasing in popularity among the researchers of the Shiekah, with whom he held intelligent discussion already at an early age.

Clearly a brilliant mind, Vantian was also gifted with good looks which made him highly popular among the women of the Shiekah, and in his early teens he was considered a bit of a womanizer. His mentors soon convinced him to stop chasing women and pursue his research instead, however they insisted that he would learn how to defend himself, and taught him how to aptly use a dagger.

It wasn't before long that he joined the Shiekah Research and Development department, where he quickly rose through the ranks, his insight and eye for technology valid input to his peers. To this day, Professor Vanitan Azim is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to technology and research, and many beseech him for his theories, his knowledge and cunning.

Relevance: Considering the Shift technology is present, Vantian's relevance comes from what he can do with it, and what he can do with existing technology. Given room, he can flourish and be highly relevant to the plot, or remain relatively under the radar.

Skill Set:

An eye for Detail: Vantian is a Shiekah scientist, and a brilliant one at that. He has a more or less innate ability to understand technology and machinery, not only how they work, but how to apply them or how to replicate their idea using more primitive methods. This means that he can take what he has, and create effective tools or machinery with very basic materials. It also allows him to take modern technology, such as the 'Shift' tech, and invent new things with it, modify it, and stretch it to its fullest potential.

Fighting style: Twin Dagger Style. Hanging from his belt are not only tools, but also two daggers which he learned to use confidently by his Shiekah mentors. While not an expert combatant, he can hold his own in a fight if need be, but would very likely lose to an expert fighter. He was told all great warriors name their weapons, and even though he is by no means a great warrior, he humoured this tradition and named his two daggers Research and Development. The two daggers are modified so they can harness electricity, which can be shot in jolts a short distance in front of him, and also inflicts extra injury in melee combat.

Have a Plan B: Hidden in his lab coat is a flintlock pistol which he has modified so that it can hold and fire three shots by utilizing a spinning barrel, before needing to be reloaded. This weapon is clumsy, loud and not subtle, but it is a surprise and a very dangerous contraption as well, something Vantian can use when he really needs to get out of trouble. If he was cornered in a fight or disarmed, he could use it as a means of escape, as using it as a his primary weapon would be too ineffective.

Weakness:
Glasses: Vantian has pretty bad eyesight, mostly due to spending his life in a dark laboratory, often surrounded by flashes of bright light when dabbling with electricity or similar experiments, and while he has invented some incredibly advanced machinery and gadgets, it has cost him some of his sight, which means he needs to wear glasses. He is a bit short-sighted, so he needs his glasses to see better at a distance, and while he is in no way blind without them, his vision is severely limited should he lose them.
