BASIC FORUM RULES
These are the rules of the forum we ask you to abide by. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact any member of the staff. Most rules are not flexible, but the administration of ToH RPG is not unreasonable and will listen to suggestions.
Keep in mind that these rules apply to the entire board, both IC (In-Character) and OoC (Out of Character).

It will help you understand how to properly navigate and use forums.
Warning: Please note that a short portion of the video features a distorted, demonic voice over large red letters at one point, so if that bothers you, I would recommend watching the video while keeping it muted.
Be Courteous and Polite
Respect other members' experiences, opinions, sense of humor and entertainment. Try to work out problems with one another, put pride aside, and do not try to get the last word on an argument.
Of course, respecting one another's humor does not mean that humor can be used as a method to excuse behavior. Please note that we do not accept any forms of bigotry, and if we see any members engaging in such behavior, they will be provided with warnings, no questions asked. Should their behavior continue, it will most certainly result in a ban. Such abhorred behaviors include racism, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, and other reprehensible forms of bigotry, and if any such behaviors are displayed, we ask that you contact the ToH staff so that we may respond with appropriate action.
While we will not be outright banning the presence of characters that display such behaviors themselves, if they are written in a light where their behavior is normalized or even romanticized, we will most certainly looking into it and holding discussions with the member in control of said character.
This is a meant to be a forum built on fun and friendship, and we wish for everyone to be able to have fun while feeling safe and comfortable.
Graphics.
Avatars are 120x120 pixels maximum. For signatures and posts, posted images will be shrunk to fit the size of the board. Do not post sexually or violently graphic images.
When using art that does not belong to yourself and it does not belong in the public domain or is not released official or promotional art, first acquire the permission from the artist and provide credit to the artist whose images you use, even in character applications. The administration of ToH RPG takes art theft very seriously, and should you repeatedly fail to follow these rules, you will receive warnings.
Disclaimer: All persons images, usernames, characters, places, etc. belong to their respective owners. Tales of Hyrule does not make claim to any copyrighted material, nor does it endorse making profit out of it. This is a non-profit RPG site, made solely for entertainment purposes.
Limited PG-13
As a forum RPG based on the Zelda series, which has stepped into Teen-rated territory on occasion, Tales of Hyrule itself is will be set with 'Limited PG-13'-style rating. What this means is that we will be following in 13+ restrictions but with a tendency to allow more mature themes to limited extents.
This allows for the presence of drugs, alcohol, smoking, sexual content, extensive violence, and more within our setting. Extensive violence may, in the form of a character being able to bash someone's skull in with a mace, full description present if the player so desires, for example, may be allowed.
However, please do keep in mind other players and respect them as needed: if they really do not want to have to read how a character is being bashed in, be sure to keep from being so descriptive when interacting in a thread where they are present; if a player is extremely uncomfortable with cruel acts upon children, respect them; if a fellow member is uncomfortable with sexual violence, please refrain from role-playing such in a thread shared with them.
We do not need our players to be thoroughly uncomfortable to the point of not having fun and wanting to leave out from such, and our players' safety and comfort far outstrips our willingness to allow one to make others uncomfortable for their own personal enjoyment.
As for sexual content, scenes depicting this are now permitted. We ought to be mature enough to handle its presence in the role-play. Just please be sure to handle it tastefully, fade out to black as necessary, and don't make it so ridiculously common that all other story has been practically stripped away from your character to focus solely on this aspect.
Additionally, profanity is most certainly allowed. We ask that you don't overuse them of course, just so that they don't fill the board and posts just become saturated with them, but you may most certainly use them. Do keep in mind that this does not mean that the usage of gendered, sexual orientation-based, or racial slurs are permitted. The use of such can earn yourself a warning, no questions asked.
No Backseat Moderating
While we do encourage members to try and resolve issues between one another privately when possible, we ask you to not threaten one another with warnings or try and act the part of staff. We want to ensure your safety, and if you feel there is an issue with another member that you cannot resolve on your own or a complaint about another member, please communicate with the RP staff so that we may address the issue.
No Spamming
Do not post useless messages or unneeded short topics. Further, do not post anything hateful or flame your fellow members.
No PM Advertising
If you do it, you’ll be warned. If you do it twice, you will receive an immediate ban. Of course we cannot control what you do off site and how members communicate with one another privately on instant messengers or the like, but if you receive a PM of such nature from a member on the board, please forward it to an administrator.
If you want to advertise your forum on Tales of Hyrule, we have an Affiliation sub-forum specifically made so that you can become affiliated with us and we can work together professionally to set something up.
No Double Posting
We ask that you not double post in the forums. What this means is posting twice in a row without waiting for any other members to post beforehand. Ideally, we want to have a sort of posting order where everyone in a single topic posts once before anyone posts again, most especially within IC topics, so that you can respond to everyone.
Exceptions to this apply only in RP areas where you have waited an extensive period of time for your rp partners to post or if they have gone on a hiatus (a minimum of 24 hours since your last post) or when an OOC topic is in need of bumping and requires attention (again, running by a minimum of 24 hours since your last post). Otherwise, please use the edit button for any other occasions.
Questions, Comments, and Suggestions
If you have any questions or concerns that you feel are unanswered by the rules or anything feels unclear to you, or you wish to leave a comment providing feedback regarding anything, including suggestions for new locations, central plot ideas, or anything, please feel free to direct them to the appropriate sub-forum or direct them to a staff member.
If you wish to speak with a staff member directly, we each also have Discord profiles that you may ask us for.
Absences
Absences are a part of online RPG. If you feel that you are going to be unavailable for awhile, please post let us know about your upcoming hiatus. While we cannot force or require you to, it is a common courtesy for all members of the board, particularly to those with whom you are familiar and currently interacting with.
