Karina Siegler
The Red Menace
The Red Menace
Species: Hylian
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Physical Appearance: Karina is rather short, especially for a Hylian woman, but what she lacks in height she makes up for in stature - her body is toned with the muscle of a lifelong worker and fighter. While her hair is normally hidden under her black tricorne hat, a peek of her red, roughly cut hair can occasionally be seen underneath, along with her olive skin and brown eyes.
Along with her tricorne hat, Karina wears pants, boots, and a long black coat. The coat is almost always hiding her axe and pistol.
Background: As a child, Karina wanted to be a knight of Hyrule. She dreamed of protecting the weak, just like in the stories of heroes that she had heard so many times. But when she moved from her poor village to Hyrule Castle Town, she was dismayed to find out that she was ineligible to become a Knight of Hyrule, due to her lack of nobility. Though she was disheartened at this, she did her best to move on, electing to join the town's militia instead.
Karina would eventually become a bodyguard to a noble in Hyrule Castle Town, and it was in this job that she saw a different side of the Hyrule Knights and the nobility. She saw the drugs peddled to the poor. People forced out onto the street, with two options: become a servant of Lord This or Lady That, or go work in the House of Orchids. When she went to the Hyrule Knights to speak of these crimes, she was laughed away, and told to mind her place.
When she was 19, Karina bore witness to a Lord Millow use his personal guard to kidnap a teenage girl, and try and force her to marry him. Karina would retreat to Millow's shed, and grab the first weapon she saw - a woodcutter's axe.
Lord Millow was found dead that night.
Karina would never find a legitimate job again, and she was forced to run from the Hyrule Castle Town soldiers and knights who attempted to hunt her down. Karina would speak of her deeds in the outskirts of Hyrule. What shocked her was the number of common people who had similar stories of sons and daughters kidnapped by royal families, while the royalty did nothing to stop them.
It was in Hylia village that Karina found her first volunteers: people who wanted to see nobles dead. But Karina decided that she would go further. These nobles weren't the cause of the dark side of Hyrule - they were just symptoms. Her plan was to pull the whole system out by the roots. She would gather an army of revolutionaries from the common people. With the resources she would gain, she would destroy the Hylian Army, force the King to abdicate his throne, and dissolve the monarchy that had plagued Hyrule for millennia.
For years she has relentlessly pursued this goal. She has made several trips back into Castle Town to make speeches about the corruption of the nobility. Each time, she leaves with a few more volunteers, a few more resources, and a few more weapons. One day, it will be enough to bring down a crown.
Relevance: Karina is the leader of the rebellion against the Hylian Crown. She aims to overthrow the king, his court, his army, and every semblance of monarchy in Hyrule, in order to install her own vision of democracy.
Skill Set:
With Blades and Bullets We'll Take our Home
Karina's combat style is ruthless and aggressive. She wields two weapons - an axe and a flintlock pistol. She fights with every intent to put her opponent down, with her most defensive tactic being a quick shot with her pistol to take someone by surprise and leave them open to attack.
An Axe to Suit Every Need
Karina's axe has an extendable handle. If need be, she can shift her axe into a form meant to be wielded with both of her hands, rather than just one. She's able to make harder, stronger swings with her axe this way, but she also loses agility, as well as the use of her pistol.
Rise With Me
Karina's charisma can't be denied. She's often able to whip crowds into a fervor with naught but her voice. Her speeches alone are often enough for people to at least support her revolution behind closed doors, if not outright leaving to join her.
Medicine for the Common People
Karina counts a few chemists and potion brewers in her employ. They've been able to concoct a new kind of potion, one that is administered through injection rather than drinking. This potion acts even quicker than the old bottled style, and also serves as a barrier against disease. Karina does her best to distribute the medicine amongst the poor, but she also keeps several doses on her person in case she needs them.
