There were no small amount of protests from the Gerudo dignitaries when the Gerudo Champion said that she would not be attending the ceremony that her and the others anointed as Champions were invited too. But she would not be dissuaded, saying with no minced words that "I'll be there when I'm needed. No sooner." She had spent her day training - something far more worth her time than constant ceremony and speeches. She would appear to the others of her title when there was something important to do, not when some old man had something "important" to say.
When she finally arrived, it was a silent affair. It seemed that other matters took everyone else's attention - that of a dead champion, and the Gorons in need of aid. She saw others: the others she was to take arms with, no doubt. She narrowed her eyes, and made her approach. "So there's actually something that requires our skills, and not just our presence? Good, maybe my time won't be wasted." "Brusque" didn't come close to describing Sharifa's words when she finally spoke. Apparently, not even an introduction crossed her mind.
Yilom had been quietly listening to the goings-on ever since her arrival. She did not think it her place to make her opinions known - after all, her people, the Zora, were the only ones who had failed to produce anyone worthy of the name Champion. But upon hearing the news, she couldn't just stand idly by anymore. This was her chance, to show that even without a worthy warrior, the Zora were still a valuable asset, and an important ally.
"If Sir Everest truly was the victim of some sort of foul play, then who or whatever is at fault may very well have passed through Lanayru in their path to Death Mountain. When I return, I will do what I can to gather information. Nothing that passes through the Wetlands escapes our gaze, no matter what."

At Zelda's words to her, a smile crossed Link's face, though her gaze was quickly drawn away as a commotion from outside encroached upon their gathering. As with the others, Link stepped aside to allow the guards to approach, but with the voices of the gorons from outside the chamber, it was less the soldiers that held her attention. Separating from the others, she stepped closer toward the entryway, through which she could already see the approaching shapes of Gogrit and his associates. Whatever was going to happen, she could already tell this was not going to be an easy start for them, and it was as she realized this that the gorons made their way in.
Still though, the news they provided was heavier than she had expected, and when she heard of their ally's death the surprise and dismay on her face was more than self-evident. Not unlike Sheik, the Champion could hardly dare to believe the truth of the ambassador's words. The sudden word of a goron's death sent a chill down her spine, and not to mention the very fact he spoke of their champion. She worried that something great and terrible must be happening upon the mountain for even the possibility to exist, and her concerns only grew when she saw– now entering after the Gorons –a woman dressed all in yellow, who Link recognized as her duchess: Lady Kítrina.
The Duchess of Eldin must have traveled at the same time, with the goron couriers to the capitol. Presumably, she too knew of their message; when she stepped into the chamber after Gogrit and the others, she spoke no words. Though an expression of concern held upon her face, she did not appear to wish to draw attention to herself, and simply kept herself to the far front of the room, and from there, observed and listened to the others in silence.
Once the ambassador's words were spoken, the others were quick to provide action and response. Both Zelda and Yilom's words certainly struck zim. What they all needed– more than anything right now –was information.
After several moments of deliberation, the Sheikah Champion spoke up. "You may count me as ready immediately." Bongol looked over to the other champions before then looking up to their leader.
"Once we have a clear understanding of the report from our allies, I will head to Death Mountain right away and investigate the circumstances of this information, Princess." Bongol directed zar gaze upon the couriers. Their message had been urgent, but in the mess of it all, it had been muddled in the urgency of their desperation. They would need to get a straight report from them before they proceeded. All the same, there was some direction and they would need some reconnaissance done. "Once I complete a basic survey, I will rendezvous with the rest of you at the maw of the mountain."
Then they turned to face the other Sheikah agent. Presuming this one's skills would be an asset the Champions could rely on: "If you would Sheik, may I ask that you join Ambassador Yilom?" Zil indicated the zora woman. "All prominent roads leading into the mountain pass through Lanayru. True enough, there is strong possibility the zora may have leads on individuals we ought to concern ourselves with." As of yet, zar instincts to zim that Yilom was a reliable one. Indeed, surely there was something that could come from working with her.
The sudden words of the Gerudo caught Link off guard. Despite her overpowering appearance, she had somehow managed to slip into the scene without giving any attention to herself whatsoever. The knight most certainly hadn't noticed her arrival until she had spoken aloud.
She pursed her lips a little. "Sure looks like it," she said, her tone somewhat bitter.
She couldn't deny that she hadn't exactly been excited about the formality of it all herself, having come to the celebration primarily out of respect (and to minimize whatever awkwardness missing it would cause), but all the same, she couldn't say she was excited to have to go out and fight. All the same, she– no, all of them –was there for a reason.
Link stepped toward Goron Ambassador and his companions. "Sir Gogrit, tell us what you know. As much as you can."

"Your Magnificence!" Gogrit bowed low, a heartfelt gesture that was mimicked by the other Goron representatives to his flanks. As he held his head up again and looked about the Champions in the room, the wetness of tears filled his eyes. The ambassador stroked his braided beard trying to hold back sobs, deeply moved by the quick response of Hyrule's chosen. "It is a privilege to witness in person the mighty hearts of Hyrule's Champions. Though I wish it was under lighter circumstances, I cannot express the bottomless gratitude we feel on behalf of all Goron. Thank you for your help. It serves as a bright lantern on this darkest of eves."
Hearing the inquiries by several about the chamber, Gogrit's expression shifted to one of dark mourning. "We would have loved if this news came on the wings of rumors," he stated, his bellowing voice having been quieted significantly. "It is with a heavy heart that I admit the proof of our Champion's demise. Raising his meaty hand, Gogrit let out a thud of a snap and turned his eyes back towards the tail of his group. A stout Goron (stouter than most) shuffled forward slowly, his lagging pace soon explained once he stepped forward for all to see. In his arms was cradled the shards of some ancient mallet, easily recognized by those with a penchant for Hyrule's history. The Goron holding the ruined weapon wept quietly, unable to maintain composure.
"Everest's great maul," Gogrit continued, his crestfallen gaze fixed upon the broken hammer. He slowly turned back to the group, looking mostly towards the King. "Sent to our city as a flaming meteor. Launched by... something that dwells upon the Face of Death. We fear... we know it is Krakatoa. He has betrayed us all. We didn't know until it was too late, and now... Hyrule is in grave peril, Your Majesty. We are so very sorry."

Master Strigidae lingered at the edge of the group, his boisterous personality having melted away into a pensive seclusion. He paced back and forth, his eyes glazed over as if peering into another reality. Muffled hmms and coos escaped every few seconds from his elder beak, and his mind seemed somewhere else entirely. Upon the reveal of Everest's weapon, he snapped back to the present and trotted forward with haste. "Megaton!" the old master shrieked, his wide eyes scanning every inch of the hammer. "Broken! Impossible, I say! This maul has survived a thousand earthquakes! It has bathed in Death's tears! Who could have done such a thing? No creature I've met on this green earth, no! Something new, something sinister, I think!"

As surprised as she was by the arrival and news of the Goron, Rosa quickly found her attention drawn to the late Gerudo. She knew Sharifa by reputation alone, but it was Rosa's placement amongst the Champions that was suddenly being threatened. Mustering her willpower to show no disappointment in her Champion's arrival, Rosa donned a warm smile and approached the tall woman. "Finally, some good news to balance out the bad," the Minister said softly as she approached the Gerudo Champion, quickly eyeing up the woman. A true warrior, like many of her Gerudo sisters. Rosa wasn't even confident that Sharifa would recognize her as kin, as unusual as the priestess looked like one of her kind. "It is an honor to meet you, great Champion. I am Rosa Stellata, Minister of the Royal Family. I am relieved I won't have to represent our sisters after all; I would do little to represent the fighting spirit of our women with proper ferocity. Thank you for gifting us with your time."[/font]

At Sheik's request, the king gave a solemn nod. "Make it so. You will go with the champions and assist them during this mission." Elphias also took note of Zelda's silent objection, but turned his attention to more pressing matters.
Despite the late arrival, there was relief in seeing the Gerudo representative join them. And though her words may be crass, they did nothing to the monarch's humor. He merely nodded in acknowledgement to her question and recognizing her presence.
As the goron presented the broken artifact, Elphias pondered on the gravity of this mission, and the threat ahead. "It certainly is a grave danger to Hyrule. But linger not your thoughts on the gravity of this situation alone. The response to it is just as strong. Krakatoa's deeds shall be judged and stopped by the Champions, Ambassador Gogrit."
"In the meantime," He announced, "I will contact the lords of the regions that border Death Mountain and arrange preventive measures, to ensure the safety of Hyrule."

Quinn listened quietly to everyone go on about the crisis, only really paying more attention when the Gerudo champion came in. Sharifa seemed to know better than this stuffy bunch, which brought a brief smile to her face. She stretched her arms and cracked her knuckles, then walked closer to the others as they inspected the broken hammer. "So, who's this Krakatoa anyway? Someone who can break a hammer like that is probably not going down easy...hopefully can put up a good fight."

Sheik listened in both on the other Sheikah and on her father, the king. She nodded to them one at a time, Bongol first then the king, in the order they had addressed her. She was relieved that Elphias had given his blessing to go. Granted, she would've gone anyway, but it was nice to know her father agreed. "Very well", she finally said, turning again towards Bongol. "I will join up with the ambassador and escort her safely to her destination". She examined Bongol up and down, almost as if gauging his potential. He would seem a good choice for a champion, and Sheik wasn't the LEAST bit jealous that Bongol was chosen at she Sheikah champion. Truth to be told, Ziel was no Sheikah to begin with and even if she was she had no interest of being their champion as the alternative provided MUCH more freedom.
Sheik then gave Bongol another swift nod as if to say goodbye, and headed over to the Zora that Bongol had indicated. "Ambassador Yilom? I am Sheik, and I will be your protection for this journey. We leave at your command".

Zelda remained where she stood, her eyes lingered on a the large gate out of the chamber and for a few moments it was as if all sounds around her faded away. There was... light, a red light was shining in though the windows and bathed the room in a crimson hue. She blinked, and it was gone, the room looked like it always had, and the voices returned to their normal volume and clarity. On the surface the only indication of what the princess had experienced was that her face became blank for a moment, and her gaze distant, it passed before most of the others had time to notice. The business with the goron champion was enough to hold their attention as well.
"Or something old"
The princess said this in reponse to master Strigidae, but it was not aimed towards anyone in the room, she was mostly talking to herself at that point. Raising a hand she rested a finger gently on her chin as her eyes turned to look at the remains of the once great weapon of the gorons. Something great would have to be used to break such an object of legends. Zelda's heart ached when she saw the sorrow in the gorons eyes, and she could very well understand why they felt that way. No, she could not, but she could imagine. No, what they needed now was a princess... and they needed assurance. What little she could provide, she would give.
"Do not fret, do not despair"
Her words came clear, and she moved forward, stopping in front of the goron holding the shards of the weapon. It was a challenge to keep her face as serene as she could make it, a mask she wore because it was what people wanted. They wanted their princess of light, and it was her duty to be what they wanted her to. Princess Zelda held out a hand, and gently touched the ruined hammer with her fingers.
"What magic has destroyed can be restored, and the hammer can be returned to you. It will be returned to you, and that I know for certain. So, dry your tears noble goron, all is not yet lost. It looks bad, but we do not know what has happened to Lord Everest, it is likely he died, but we know not for certain and I shall therefore postpone my grief until we know his fate."
The princess' eyes briefly turned to met those of his father, maybe she was seeking some kind of reassurance from him, part of her often felt she needed to seek his approval. Even so, her attention quickly moved on to the others in the room. Her gaze stopped on Link, and she had a thoughtful expression before speaking.
"Sir Link, I would have a word with you after this meeting, if that is acceptable? I will take but a moment of your time."
