Name: Damien of House Lyonsbane (having had his House stripped of rank and power, it's now only Damien Lyonsbane)
Species: Human
Age: 30
Gender: Male
Physical Appearance and Personality :
Damien Lyonsbane is a tall, muscular and handsome man. He stands 2.00 meters tall (6'6) and weighs in at 95 kilograms (209 lbs). He has shoulder-lenght, brown hair and short-shaved facial hair, thick, bushy eyebrows as well as green eyes. The (seemingly) bottom layer of his outfit consists of a white shirt, and on top of that, he wears a brown coat with red trimmings. A thick, heavy belt holds his brown leather pants in place, and his hands are adorned with fingerless gloves. On his feet he wears heavy leather boots, able to withstand weather and wear. The most eye-catching armor he wears is his only shoulderpad on his left shoulder. However, he wears a chain shirt under his tunic, hiding it with regular clothing. If someone inspects him closely though, they can make out the chain shirt he wears, but he tries to hide it to make enemies believe they're fighting an unarmored foe.
Despite coming of as a brute, Damien can be surprisingly charming (at least towards the opposite sex), and while he's not the smartest man in the world, having spent more time fighting and carousing, he has his moments of charm and compassion.
Background: Damien was born to nobility, into the House of Lyonsbane. He was brought up wealthy, the kind of boy who got anything he wanted just by pointing at it. Where the rest of his family members were often advisors or spellcasters, Damien showed an affinity for melee combat at a young age, as he was a powerfully built already at a young age. His parents hired the best tutors who taught him to fight, not only with his heavy claymore, but his fists as well. While he loved his family like most people do, he didn't care much for their cunning nature, as he was a rather blunt and up front man, except with the women, where he was smooth and charming. Known as a troublemaker and ladiesman, Damien was immensely popular among women of both noble and common birth, and often escaped the confinement of the castle to visit the local pubs, much to his family's chagrin.
As time passed and Damien grew even taller, stronger and fiercer, he on occasion started some ruckus, such as street fights and bar brawls, which made him impopular among the nobility, but he could care less. He had met the king a couple of times, and the man impressed him with his integrity and authorithy, and Damien hoped that, despite his troublemaking ways, maybe one day he'd fight alongside the man. His dreams were cut short though as he one day returned to the castle after a visit to the cute little brunette who sold flowers at the Town Square, and he learned his family had been arrested.
He went to the local barracks to see what was going on but was jumped by the guards and arrested as well. King Elphias carried out the sentencing himself, House Lyonsbane being accused of conspiring to usurp the king. Since they planned a Coup D'etat that did not involve regicide, they were not executed but instead stripped of rank and power and sent into exile.
Damien's world shattered. It was the end of his luxurious lifestyle, and he felt bitter and angry for this unfair treatment. He had had NO hand in these schemes, he had even been completely oblivious to their plans, yet he was exiled as well!? His bitterness grew even further as the former House Lyonsbane packed up their belongings and left Hyrule Castle Town.
As time passed and Clan Lyonsbane traveled south east towards their family home, Damien's bitterness mellowed out a little bit. He realized King Elphias HAD to exile him as well, because if he left anyone in House Lyonsbane around, they'd be met with suspicion and disdain for the rest of their life. Not that they wouldn't be met with that NOW, but it was better to be hated from a distance, than having powerful nobles around you that hated your guts. He understood the king's motives, but hated the decision nevertheless.
Years passed and as he tried his best getting used to his new lifestyle, but it was hard living as commonfolk after having lived as nobility, and his family struggled hard. He realized how lucky he had been, and just how hard some of the commonfolk had to work to survive. Earning his living as a mercenary now, during one of his travels it struck him. It wasn't the King that was at fault. It was the system. The whole system of a wealthly nobility running everything, rolling in gold while the commonfolk struggled. The system was flawed, and needed to go. The people who worked the land knew better how the land worked than some stuck up nobles in the castle, and it was time for change.
From some of his more shady colleagues in the mercenary business, he learned of a rebellion that was forming to take down the king and change the entire ruling system, and he wanted in. So he acquired the fastest horse he could find and headed towards Loshlo Harbor to meet with Karina and her rebels.
Relevance: Damien has a lot at stake in the rebellion, and thus will give his all for them. He will be as relevant as the rebellion is during the chapter.
Skill Set:
Powerfully Built: Damien is physically VERY strong. He can swing his claymore with terrifying force and prowess and if you want someone to break down a door or lift something heavy, or want to lose in arm wrestling, Damien's your go-to guy. While he is not supernaturally strong, he's still a powerhouse of strength, stamina and resilience.
Excellent Fighter: Damien excels at melee combat, especially with his claymore that he has now named 'Usurper'. The blade is one of Clan Lyonsbanes family heirlooms, and is such a magical sword, able not only to withstand a lot of damage before breaking, but also able to affect certain spells. He could, for example, reflect a fireball back at an attacker by slashing it. He is also a competent brawler, using his sheer strength and grapples to crush his opponents. He does not know any martial arts per se, and fights with a more bralwer/street fighter style and is not above fighting dirty if he has to.
Lyonsbane's Courage: While one would think their name is derived from Lions, that is a fallacy. Instead, Clan Lyonsbane was actually called Lynelsbane when it was first formed, but the name has been warped over generations into Lyonsbane. Their clan was known for organizing expeditions to vanquish Lynels from the lands, and as such they have learned the true meaning of fear and conquered it. While Damien can still be affected by illusions and mind-controlling effects, he is resiient towards them, and there are very few things that can make him falter.
Weakness:
While Damien is a physical powerhouse, he is a bit on the slow and sluggish side. He swings hard, hits hard and can crush your head like a watermelon, unless you're faster than he is. If you're fighting him with ranged weapons you're safe as long as he doesn't manage to reach you, at which point you're most likely dead unless you play your cards right.
