Name: King Elphias Nostradamus Hyrule
Species: Hylian
Age: 60
Gender: Male
Physical Appearance:
Elphias is an older Hylian man, with long gray hair and amber eyes. Donned in ceremonial armor, the King adorns his once battle-ready equipment with fine clothes and regalia befitting of a monarch. Though past his prime, he still shows great physical condition although he can at times show signs of overexertion. His right hand gauntlet shines with the ever present crest of Power, a reminder of the king's authority and duty to his kingdom.
Background: Born in the Necluda province, Elphias enjoyed a childhood of youthful adventure in its forests. Of common birth, the future king rose to prominence through his deeds as an adventurer. He had an inborn gift, a certain determination that came in knowing he had to do his utmost for those who relied on him. This empowered him in a quite literal manner and allowed him to be one of the kingdom's finest knights in his prime.
It was in service to the crown that he caught the attention of the princess, and over time Elphias and her began to long for one another, forming a bond that would lead to their union, and would make him King of Hyrule. Due to the nature of his power and his station, Elphias found himself tasked to unite a kingdom that had been weakened by the crisis brought on by Ganon and the terrible sorcerer Vaati not too long ago.
And so through the following years Elphias spearheaded many missions to secure the lands and strengthen the alliances between central Hyrule and the other groups and cultures that occupied the realm. This brought forth an era of prosperity, and in that time the king's power grew and grew, until he awakened a crest slumbering within his hand, gone unnoticed for long: Power.
This shard of the Triforce only placed more of a sense of duty within the king, and bestowed upon him such providence that no other monarch could have dreamt of in ages past. After a long and tumultuous history of crisis and untold evils plaguing the kingdom, Hyrule at last had the means to endure any hardship.
However, in his personal life, the king faced struggles. The loss of his wife, as well as the complexity of his relationship with his daughters, one of whom chose to willingly exclude herself from the public eye in service to the kingdom. Having to fill in the roles of two parents, the King attempted his best to nurture those that would be his legacy, Hyrule's legacy into the future. Having spent most of his life as a campaigning warrior-king, this was no easy task, as Wisdom was not one of the gifts given to the great king.
And as Hyrule reached its apex of unity and prosperity, ushering in a golden age, the brilliance and luster of such a victory began to dull. As the kingdom fell to complacency from its feeling of security, the unison started to waver. Conspirators, schemers and rebels began to rise. Not all of those out of spite of their king, but out of that which Elphias had rarely dealt with: The monsters within humanity itself. The corrupt, the vile, the ones who he would pass by and wear the smile of saints.
Unlike beasts of the wild and great evils, these were not things a king could handle with the power that he had, even if it was possible. This required more than one man's perspective, and more than raw power. The realm needed to be reminded of the good within it, and of the bonds that bind it.
Thus, came the King's initiative to bring forth Champions, heroes of the people, those who could and would be able to stifle the scurrying darkness within the realm, those who were allowed to err without having the weight of a nation emplaced upon them.
And so does King Elphias reign. A man with power beyond imagining, yet unable to use it to end that which now plagues the land without creating a greater darkness.
Relevance: Elphias is the 10000 Year King, the man who spearheaded a golden age for his kingdom and would futurely be part of the reason for Hyrule's resounding success against the coming darkness. What history forgets however, were the failings and struggles of such a great historical figure.
Skill Set:
The Power of the People...
Elphias' power comes from those that believe in him. More specifically, those who believe in him as a rightful king. He gains a fraction of physical power from every single one of his subjects who believe in him and his ideals, allowing him to have the disposition of a strong and active warrior, despite having had very little time to do battle in the latest years.
With the Crest of Power upon his possession, this innate ability was only further strengthened, and it allows Elphias to wield if for a moment the power of any of his subjects, supernatural or otherwise. Wielding such powers for too long, especially the more outlandish ones, will be taxing upon the power of the Crest itself and of the King after its reserves are spent. Those from whom the King draws power from may feel that their ruler is reaching out for the aid of their abilities.
Needless to say, with Elphias' position also comes the awesome responsibility of being at the top of Hyrule's monarchic hierarchy, giving him power over the affairs of the army, the unwavering loyalty of the Sheikah and to be privy of many of the realm's secrets.
...And The Weight of the World
Anything Elphias does, especially concerning his powers has far reaching consequences. Though in theory capable of ending the rebellion, possibly even on his own, the weight of such acts would bring about infamy and distrust of the likes that could shake the very unity of the realm, and cast doubt upon the rightfulness of Hyrule's King. The very trust the nation places upon him and empowers him is the basis of his power.
