Name: Aranha Pajak
Species: Gigantic, Magically-altered monster (spider)
Age: Due to the powerful dark magic she was exposed to she can live for a VERY long time, but last time she counted, she was at least 151 years old.
Gender: Female
Physical Appearance: Aranha is a shapeshifting monster spider, and has a total of five forms with varied appearances. All of them are described below. Her abilities varies with every form, as described in the "Skill set" section.
Form 1: Simply known as her "Human" form, and the form she uses among Hylians. This form is of a cute, pale-skinned Hylian in her late twenties, standing about 1.60m (5'2) with ashen hair and red eyes, wearing a black top with spiderweb-patterns, as well as long gloves with metal claws at the end, a red skirt, vest and hat, as well as high-heeled boots.
Form 2: Known as "Temptress" form. In this one, her torso becomes that of a voluptuous and attractive, grey-skinned woman, her hair is raven black and her eyes are glowing red. Her lower body is that of a gigantic spider, allowing her to create webbing and scale walls with ease. She stands about 2 meters tall in this form (6'6).
Form 3: Known as her "Matron" form. In this form she keeps the resemblence of a humanoid, but less so than in the Temptress form. On her head is a chitinous helmet, resembling a spider, that she can use in two different 'modes' (described in the skill section), as well as a giant egg sacc on the back part of her body. This form is taller than the previous two, standing 3 meters tall (10 feet).
Form 4: Her fourth form, known as "Phobia" lives up to its name. It turns her into a bipedal, monstrous nightmare standing about 14'8 feet tall (4,5 meters). This form has many arms and the ability to create webs, and focuses more on paralyzing her enemies with fear, entangling them, and tearing them apart with her razor-sharp claws.
Form 5: Lastly, her true and final form, known as "Matriarch", is the true and terrifying appearance of Aranha. A MASSIVELY large spider, from her abdomen to her head, her length is a terrifying 20 feet (6 meters tall), and her height is about 16' (5,5 meters). Her abdomen is deep red and her upper body is black, the same colors as her humanoid form.
Background: Once their was an itty bitty spider climbing up a web. The itty bitty spider lived in the sewers of Thorodan's castle, her web strung up among the various crystals formed in said sewers that were filled to the brim with dark energy. She did what spiders usually did, catching fat, juicy flies and finding mates, laying eggs and just living the sweet life. However, the itty bitty spider often slept on the warm, glowing crystals, as they soothed her and felt very nice.
One day, the itty bitty spider woke up and realized she was no longer as itty bitty as she previously was, and she was AWARE she was not as small as she used to be. Sentience, or rather, heightened intelligence, was weird at first to the spider, but soon she got used to her own thoughts. As she was skittering around the sewers, taking in the sights and now UNDERSTANDING them, she came across a bunch of weird two-leggers whom she decided to follow. Listening to them talk, she found something fascinating, that being the sounds they made, and tried imitating them. After a bit of practice she managed to make a sound that sounded like the ones they did, not the clicking sounds and noises she usually made, and thus, she learned to speak. Her first word was "Poison" and it was a word she liked very much, although she didn't understand its meaning until much later.
After following the group for some time her curiosity got the better of her and when the weird two-leggers were asleep, she used her webbing and lowered herself down upon the smallest of them. This woke the two-legger up, but instead of being terrified, the little one was surprised at first, but quickly recovered from her surprise and asked: 'Hello there, little friend, what are you doing here?'. The spider had never had a conversation before, but responded to the creature by saying: 'Poison', the only word she knew.
The girl was surprised that the spider could talk, and asked her what her name was. Name? She had followed the three ones long enough to learn they were a Link, a Melissa and an Erin. The little spider thought long and hard and responded "Me.. Aranha". The one that was an Erin was fascinated by the talking spider and asked if she wanted to tag along. The one that was a Melissa was terrified at first at the sight of Aranha, but quickly calmed down. Aranha decided to follow these ones, as she could learn a lot from them.
The one that was an Erin brought Aranha with her home and taught her not only how to speak, but also how to use her magical powers. As time passed Aranha and Erin became very close friends and Aranha learned how to use her magic to take on various forms, eventually even a human one.
They made it a running joke that Aranha was a 'visiting friend' every time Erin had guests over and Aranha was there in her human form. However, Aranha continued to grow in size and viciousness, starting to prey on larger prey. First it was small vermin and critters, then, as she grew, she began to hunt bigger game, moving on to moose, bears and wolves.
Eventually, a day came when Aranha was SO massive she couldn't stay in her spider form near Erin's home any longer or people would notice her. She instead took up home in a nearby cave, visiting her friend more or less every day.
When she returned home one day after visiting Erin, one of her webs had caught a Hylian, a bandit that had gone into her cave hoping to find valuables to steal. Aranha was angered by the intrusion and shapeshifted to her spider form, lunging and attacking the Hylian, biting him with her poisoned fangs, killing him painfully. She had promised Erin to not eat humans if it ever came to it, but her other nets had not caught anything, and as time passed in her cave, she grew hungry. She could have shapeshifted and headed to Erin for a bite to eat, but it was in the middle of the night and Erin was most likely asleep, so Aranha gave into temptation and feasted on the dead Hylian.
The taste of human flesh was.. Exhilarating, and she wanted more! However, she did feel a pang of guilt for what she had done, having promised her best friend not to eat humans. Shame washing over her she felt she didn't want to see Erin's disappointed look and simply left her cave, packing up what little human possessions she had and headed for civilization. Not only was it away from Erin, the friend she had disappointed, the source of her shame, but it was ALSO the way to more delicious, juicy morsels for her to feast upon!
She was both ashamed and angry at Erin at the same time. Why hadn't the woman told her how tasty humans were!? Eating one was like the juciest of flies, multiplied by ten, or even twenty! Also, being a human.. Humans could do many interesting things, and their mating rituals amused her and was fun. She decided she would head to civilization and live as a human, luring unsuspecting morsels to her nets and feasting on them.
Many, MANY years passed and eventually Aranha learned to shapeshift others as well, doing so with her many children, allowing them to pass off as Humans and walk around among the unsuspecting little snacks that populated the town. She opened a business that served as an opium den and an alchemist shop, where people could come to 'forget their troubles' by smoking opium or trying various salves and potions to numb their minds and forget their stress, as well as offering an assassination service in the back rooms. This way, she could both send her children to kill targets and bring them to her to eat, as well as luring the occasional customer into her clutches to eat or mate with. Needless to say she still traveled the world from time to time, as she came to realize that while humans were tasty, NOTHING was as tasty as magic-wielding humans, OH boy did they taste magnificent!
To this very day, Aranha's Opium Den/Alchemy shop is still in Hyrule Castle Town, aptly named "The Widow's Lair", as Aranha is known as a woman who has had a couple of husbands and wives, but they have all mysteriously disappeared without a trace, leaving her a widow on multiple occasions.
The more shady inhabitants of Hyrule are well aware of the assasination services offered in the back rooms of her den, while the occasional, casual visitor would just know it as an opium den and alchemy shop, a place to come to relax, buy a potion or an ointment to ease pain, or perhaps flirt with the attractive Den Mother that runs the place whenever she is present, as she is quite a beauty, her reputation be damned. Even though criminals know of her assassination services, almost nobody knows of Aranha's true form.
Relevance: Aranha's relevance can best be described as "Flexible". Her motivation is to prey upon and eat unsuspecting hylians, or mate with them to make more spiderlings that will continue to consume and kill. That being said, if she encounters someone she likes, she can join up with them and help them with their goal, so long as she gets her share of people to eat. Her relevance to the plot varies both depending on her actions, and what situation she gets in, thus 'flexible'.
Skill Set: Her skills vary between forms, but there are three skills that she has in all of them, mentioned below:
Darkvision: Aranha can see in the dark regardless of what form she is in, but she cannot see colors with this vision, only shades of grey.
Spider Climb: In all of her forms, Aranha can climb along walls and cielings, or hang from walls/cielings using her web. Her humanoid form requires her to be barefeet or bare-handed to do so, meaning she cannot wear boots and/or gloves if she wants to climb walls in that form, but the other forms can do so with any leg(s) or arms that are not covered.
Spider Speech: She can talk to, and understand, spiders in all of her forms, issuing orders to them or listening to them report their findings to her.
Hypnotic Gaze: (Only usable in form 1 & 2). Since form 1 & 2 are the only forms that allow her to use magic, this ability is only available in those forms. She can look another person in the eyes, and using her magic, attempt to hypnotize them with her gaze, as well as coating her words in alluring poison, allowing her to lure unsuspecting victims to their deaths. This ability only works on Player Characters with their permission, as a strong enough mind can resist the effect of the hypnosis.
Form 1 (Human form). In this form, Aranha's Magical powers are at their peak, allowing her to shapeshift her children (or anyone of her choosing), altering their appearance. She can ONLY shapeshift spiders to humanoids, so if this spell is cast on a normal human, she can only change their appearance, such as hair color, eye color, gender and such. One spiders, the appearance lasts indefinetly, on humans or a player character, is lasts as long as fits the narrative. Her combat abilities in this form are limited to producing poison from her fangs, coating the claws of her gloves with said poison and fighting with it in melee. The claws are strong enough to withstand other weapons, but her hand-to-hand combat skills are rather limited, so fighting in this form is VERY deadly due to her poison, but she is at the same time rather vulnerable.
Form 2: (Temptress Form). In this form, she can use whatever object her hands allow her to use, as she still has a human torso, as well as her Hypnotic gaze. She can also produce webbing which she can throw at her foes to entangle them, closing in for the kill. Her magical and poison powers are weaker in this form, but due to her alluring appearance, her Hypnotic Gaze is stronger. In this form any poison produced merely slows her targets, making them dull-minded and distracted, it is not strong enough to kill.
Form 3: (Matron Form). As the Matron, Aranha's magical abilities are extremely limited, and her weapon of choice here is either lowering the 'visor' on the helmet she wears, allowing her to spit poison at her foes, or using her MAIN weapon, the eggsac on her back. She uses this to spawn several little spiderlings, and using the little magic she has to rapidly grow them, sending them on her enemies. This form is very poor in all forms of combat melee combat, but still allows her to use a pair of humanoid arms. Often while using this form, she retreats far away from her foes and assault them with swarms of her children. She can also produce webs in this form, but rarely, if ever, uses it for combat, prefering to utilize it for escape or slowing down her pursuers.
Form 4: (Phobia form). In this hellish nightmare of a form, her magical abilities are completely supressed. Instead she focuses on melee combat with her razor-sharp claws on all of her four arms. Her strength is greatly increased in this form, gaining the strength of an actual spider. She can either walk on all of her eight legs (using the two on her shoulders), or on two legs, and if doing so she moves a lot faster while limiting her ability to fight, often using that method for escaping. In this form she can also shoot webs from her rear, entangling enemies and tearing them to shreds. Her poison abilities are very limited in this form, but she can emit and soul-shivering shriek in this form that instills fear in anyone who hears it. Towards player characters, this only work if they choose to be affected, but a mere mortal would be paralyzed with fear.
Form 5: (Matriarch Form). In this form, her true form, she is at her full height and strength, being able to lift many, MANY times her own weight. She can grab and crush enemies with her mandibles, poison them with her fangs or shoot strings of web at them. She can also pierce her enemies with her many legs, but the legs are rather vulnerable so she prefers not to fight with them unless she has to, but her hitting someone with them is still enough to send them flying due to her massive strength. In this form she's the fastest and strongest and her poison-coated mandibles and fangs are extremely deadly, strong enough to kill a lynel in seconds. You do NOT want to be hit by her poison in this form, or you can count your blessings. Against a player character, the poison will still be extremely deadly, but it will at best numb their mind to near unconciousness, as it can only kill or paralyze them with player permission.
She also has ONE final move in this form that she can use, but will only use it if she is extremely desperate as the move more or less puts her on death's door, as near death she can be without being unconcious or.. well, dead.
Burst: Her lower body bursts, letting out HUNDREDS of small, flesh-eating spiders that swarm their enemies. This ability leaves Aranha unable to fight, and after using it she will most likely try to escape, leaving her VERY vulnerable should her foes survive the initial attack. She will regenerate her lower body after resting for a while outside of combat, or for 10 posts in an ongoing battle.
Shapeshifting limitations: After shifting into another shape, she must wait 2 posts before being able to shift again, as it puts strain on her body to do so.
Roleplaying note: Aranha speaks in a soft, soothing and seductive voice with a slight posh, british accent in all of her forms except her Phobia and Matriarch form, in which she speaks with a hissing, terrifying voice, her accent gone.
