Name: Jacqueline Francesca Silverbell
Nicknames: Apothecary Silverbell, Belle, Jackie (her most common nickname).
Species: Human
Age: 30
Gender: Female
Physical Appearance:
Jacqueline is a woman in her thirties, her shoulder-long hair a white-ish gray, but despite this slight resemblancet of the Sheikah she is in fact NOT one of them. Her eyes are amber in color, almost orange and she has a very slight upnose, a piercing in her left nostril and left eyebrow, and her right eye is surrounded by nasty scars, the longest stretching from above her eyebrow down to her cheek, and two smaller scars next to it. As a result of these scars Jacqueline has lost her right eye, and has replaced it with a sort of mechanical, magical lens. Despite her wound, she is considered pretty by many, which is further enhanced by her tendency to be rather flirtatious, and she has a warm, inviting smile.
She sports a white shirt and greyish pants, a yellow tie around her neck and a greyish vest on top of the shirt. To top it all off, she wears a brown trenchcoat as well as occasionally a Plague Doctor mask and a hat.
Background: Jackie was born to a lesser noble family in Hyrule Castle Town. She could have been spoiled and have had anything she pointed to. As she was learning the trades of nobility, how to act, behave and talk, she grew terminally ill at the age of five, and was told she had precious little time left.
Thankfully her uncle was a royal apothecary and as soon as he heard of her illness, rushed to her aid with a concoction that tasted AWFUL, but did the job, and before long she got better. After this her uncle Orvanel became her favorite person in the world and she wouldn't stop pestering him, even sneaking into the castle grounds to meet him. She nagged him to teach her how to save lives and be as fantastic as he was, and despite his refusals at first, he caved in and convinced her father to let him teach her.
Said and done. From the age of ten, she began studying to become an Apothecary, and moved in with her uncle. Having nothing but love for her parents she visited them from time to time and showed her progress in her new trade.
The years went by and one day Jacqueline was met with the sad news that her parents had been killed while out on a business journey. They had been slain by monsters, ambushing their camp at night. Crushed by the news, Jacqueline withdrew further into her studies, even considering dabbling into the more dangerous territories of alchemy, for a time the thought of finding a way to bring her parents back circulated in her head. She barely ate, she barely slept, and it was her uncle who eventually had to snap her out of it. She was so tired she could barely stand, yet so angry and frustrated she could not sleep as every time she did, she saw her parents be murdered by different monsters every night. Once again Orvanel stepped in and helped her, brewing up a tea with a variety of herbs mixed in which allowed her a peaceful, dreamless sleep.
As she woke up she was once again thinking straight and now started working towards becoming the best possible alchemist she could be, to become someone her parents would be proud of. Once more the years passed and Jackie studied night and day, even surprising her uncle with the knack she had for alchemy. Around the age of 19 she moved away from her Uncle's to open her own apothecary. At first business was a bit rough but eventually as she sold potions, salves and ointments to more and more people, her reputation grew and business was blooming. More years passed, and Jackie made friends, fell in love, fell out of love, laughed, cried hated and overall had ups and down as one does in life. She also developed her tinkering skills to match her skills in alchemy, as well as taking lessons in sword fighting and learning how to shoot a flintlock pistol.
One day she learned from her uncle that he had begun looking for a replacement to take his place one day, and he wanted her to be this replacement. Honored to take the spot, she joined the ranks of the other Hylian royal alchemists. At this point she had FAR more funds for her research and although she could send people to gather supplies for her but instead she chose to lead an expedition herself. Over the years she had learned the exact location of the monsters that killed her parents, and while she had learned to put it aside it had been a dark memory lurking in the back of her mind for years. Intent on settling the score, she armed herself with her sword that she had named Breakthrough, stacked up on poisons and potions she had made, as well as loading her flintlock, and set out.
It was combining business and.. well.. revenge. The monsters would provide her with monster guts and parts, which she needed for her potions, and she'd get her revenge. Win-win. However no plan survives contact with the enemy, and while Jacqueline and her crew took the monsters by surprise, they were powerful, a mix of Moblins and Bokoblins, and they were angry. It was a long and hard fight but eventually the last monster fell when Jackie stabbed it with her sword. With the last of its strenght, the monster reached out and stabbed Jackie in the eye as the life left it. Roaring and writhing in pain, the last thing Jackie saw before passing out was herself lying in a pool of her own blood, knowing that death now came to claim her.
As she came to, she was lying in the Hylian barracks, a bandage around her head. She had done it, she had avenged her parents and she had in fact NOT died! It had cost her dearly but in her mind it was worth it, any price was. As she began to recover she began building a contraption that would replace her eye and instead of just making it a prostethic she made it a sort of lens that allowed her to zoom her vision in on that eye, almost like a telescope, and from it smaller lenses could extened to serve as a microscope. The last gift she got from her Uncle before his retirement was, fittingly, a lens. It was a piece of Sheikah technology known as a Lens of Truth, which allowed whoever looked through it to see through illusions and see things for what they truly were.
Her contraption finished, she had it enhanced with magic by spending almost all of her saved funds. She tried the contraption and.. It worked! Although some people found it a bit off-putting (and others thought it made her look even prettier than before), it served its function, and that was what was the most important to Jackie.
She was asked one day if she had any interest to be transfered to Akkala Region. While it was an unexplored territory, a wild frontier in the middle of nowhere, she wasn't sent there due to incompetence, quite the opposite, as her superiors told her "they wanted to send one of the best". Flattered, Jackie accepted and packed up her bags, leaving with the first possible cart towards Akkala and her new future.
Relevance: As a traveling alchemist and Tinkerer, Jacqueline can find work everywhere in the world, thus her relevance really comes from supply and demand from the Hylians, and whomever she travels with, whatever shenanigans they might find themselves in.
Skill Set:
Trinkets, Tools and Potions
Jacqueline is an alchemist and a tinkerer, as such she can create a variety of potions and elixirs, as well tinker to make mechanical contraptions and.. well, trinkets. She can buld and repair flintlocks, make gadgets and gizmos, some various trinkets and fix her own lens for example, as well as brew potions for a variety of occasions. Beneath are a few, but not all, of her potions. She CAN make poisons, but their effects and power will be purely based on story, and decided with all involved participants upon creation, so if a player wants her to make a potion, its strength, effects and duration will be discussed with the player.
Potions
Green Potion - A slow-running brew with a slightly acrid smell, that when imbibed cleanses poisons and some diseases from the imbiber.
Red Potion- A potent, sweet-smelling healing brew that when imbibed heals whoever drinks it. It cannot restore limbs or cure ailments.
Blue Potion - An incredibly powerful healing tonic that smells sour. Apart from just healing the imbiber, it's healing properties is so potent that if one has access to a lost limb and hold it in place after drinking the potion, the limb will reattach itself within 3 posts, assuming the limb is recovered and held in place within 3 posts of being severed.
Elixirs
Draught of Dinraal
This Elixir can be throw at an enemy and upon contact explodes in a cloud of fire.
Flask of Farosh
A yellow-ish, sparkling elixir that when thrown explodes and shoots lightning at people standing close to the point of impact.
Nectar of Naydra
This concoction glows a bright blue, and upon thrown at a target shatters and cover their target in a sheen of ice.
By changing up the ingredients, Jackie can cause these aforementioned elixirs to instead cause the imbiber to become more resistant to extreme heat, extreme cold, or take less damage from lightning for 5 posts.
Elixir of Goron Strenght.
This earthy-brown potion enhances the imbiber's strength. After imbibing this elixir, the one who drinks it becomes as strong as a goron for five posts, allowing one to perform feats of strength far beyond one's normal limit. If a Goron drinks this potion he or she would become roughly twice as strong. After the effects wear off the imbiber becomes weak and fatigued for 2 posts.
Elixir of Lynel Tenacity
This Greyish potion enhances the imbiber's toughness, allowing them to withstand a great deal of punishment for 5 posts. After the potion wears off, the imbiber becomes more prone to damage for 3 posts
Elixir of Rito's Grace
The blue-white-ish potion smells of a warm summer wind, and when imbibed the one who drinks it becomes much swifter, much faster for 5 posts. After the effects wear off, the imbiber becomes slow and sluggish for 2 posts.
Jackie can only have a total of 7 potions/Elixirs on her at any given time, and after using all seven 'slots' she has to refill her supplies. The poisons she can make can exceed this limit as they are only story based.
A "Jack-ie" of many trades
Apart from just alchemy and tinkering, Jackie has trained to use a sword to fight with as well as a flintlock pistol. Both of these weapons she uses proficiently. She's no master and would probably lose to experienced veterans, but she can hold her own in a fight if need be and would be considered 'good' but not great with her weapons.
All secrets exposed
Jacqueline's right eye was lost in battle and has such been replaced with a lens-like contraption that can either function as a sort of telescope, or extend many more, smaller lenses to function as a microscope. It also has a function where it serves as a Lens of Truth, allowing her to see through illusions and find hidden walls and objects. It does not make her immune to illusions in any way though, and they can fool her before she realizes it's an illusion and checks it out with her lens.
