Name: Magneous the Consuming Inferno; Child of Krakatoa; Eldin Reborn
Species: Artificial Golem, Goron-made
Age: Infantile
Gender: N/A
Physical Appearance:
With a raging inferno as surrogate for a soul, Magneous is a mighty construct of terrible proportions. Towering over most of Hyrule's creatures at a whopping 5 meters tall, the molten golem is like a miniature, mobile volcano. It is nearly as wide as its height to boot, which leads to it having a massive presence. In place of flesh is cobbled sheets of cooled lava held together by bands of Goron alloy steel and some extremely exotic magical wards. Each joint and crevice on Magneous's body churns with bubbling magma that is held in place through the charms that give it life as well as its own will. A monstrous face is carved into boulder upon its shoulders with a fiercesome maw that emits embers and smoke while three eyes dot its forehead; two sockets of infernal light where most humanoids have their eyes and a large, unsettling occulus of flame that perches above the two others.
Background:
The natural order of Hyrule has always been kept in balance by three. Three goddesses who created the world, the three pieces of the Triforce that they gifted to Hylia and her people, and the three great Spirits that serve as guardians of their respective realms. Faron, the elemental guide to the water of life and courage of souls. Lanayru, overseer of order and the dominion of Hyrule's sky. And, last but not least, Eldin. The regent of fire surveys all the lands upon which life and order exist, giving power to the forces that birth, maintain, and destroy the very earth of Hyrule itself.
There are no other beings in Hyrule that exist more closely with the earth, and in turn Eldin, than the Goron. With a history so closely intertwined with the soils, sands, and sediments of the realm, they are a race that has always been fascinated by the properties of the ground they live on. Making their homes upon Death Mountain itself, the mother of Hyrule's landmass, some in the Goron dedicate their lives to learning all they can about how and why their land exists.
Three brothers took it upon themselves to split the timeline. One kept kept his eyes on the past, studying the old earth and learning to discover the age of dirt through research. Vesuvius. The second turned his eyes to the future, hoping to find methods to predict the creation of new land while preventing the erosion of what exists. Maunaloa. Last, and perhaps the most well-known, affixed his gaze upon the present; he observed, amplified, and manipulated the fires of Death Mountain's belly to bring new rock where, when, and how his people wanted it. Krakatoa.
The three were lauded for many years among the Goron people for their efforts. A people stereotyped for having pebble-sized brains, the Gorons basked in the knowledge the brothers brought to their community. In time their support grew, and thus their operations all the same. Research stations and laboratories built into the natural caverns dotting Death Mountain grew rapidly. With this growth, however, came in the inflation of ambitions.
Krakatoa was always the closest to Hyrule's heart. In his work studying the magma beneath the land, he began to feel the power of Din seep into his very flesh. Intoxicated by the feeling, his hunger became ravenous. A need for more lead to a seizure of the operations, through deception as first though, once discovered, it eventually came down to force. Little of the details are known, but the eldest brother, Vesuvius, was killed in the process. Krakatoa used his influence to stem this information from the Goron people, but Maunaloa knew of the treachery. The two waged a shadow war upon the face of Eldin's volcano.
The two clashed for months without much give, and Krakatoa realized his resources were draining at an ominous rate. Being the genius that he was, he understood defeat was just on the horizon. Desperate and deranged at the loss of control, he began to conduct brutal experiments on his fellow researchers. Grafting rock upon Goron flesh using fresh lava and a mind for ingenuity, dozens were horribly disfigured and murdered by the mad scientist. Still, the experiments were fruitless. While his peers grew more and more suspicious of the lead researcher, a cloaked figure approached Krakatoa in secret. With an offer of unknown but mighty power, the last ingredient had been found in the form of dark magic.
Maunaloa then launched a final offensive. A master of seismic studies, he brought about novel machines and soldiers that could influence the quaking of the ground. Krakatoa's dwindled forces were overwhelmed in minutes, and Maunaloa turned his men upon his brother's personal laboratory. Offering one last chance for Krakatoa to surrender and face his crimes, Maunaloa and his forces waited eagerly for response. The pride that had come from victory vanished in a flash and a bang as the earth opened up and spewed a lake of lava upon Maunaloa's army. As the survivors looked on with horror, their fears only swelled as a demonic figure rose from the infernal river. Before they had a chance to react, it rose its arms and commanded the molten pool through unseen power. The lava shot forth and consumed the remainder of Maunaloa's efforts, and his ambitions with them. Only Maunaloa remained, isolated on an island in a veritable ocean of fire.
The demon approached, wading through the flames, with another perched on his shoulder. "Welcome, kid brother," Krakatoa exclaimed, insanity dripping from every syllable. "I would like to introduce you to my son. Magneous, say hello to your uncle."
Maunaloa was no more.
Krakatoa seized the reigns from Eldin, claiming Death Mountain for his own. The Champion of the Gorons, who was set to go to Hyrule and meet with the king, suddently had more pressing issues.
Relevance:
The right arm of Krakatoa, who has conquered the Eldin Province as his own. It is now the target of the Goron Champion, who hopes to reclaim the region for the Goron people.
Skill Set:
Magma Manipulation
With the power of Eldin as its disposal, Magneous is able to control the very lifeblood of Hyrule itself. Magical talent leads to an ability to twist and turns the currents of magma, lava, and molten states of natural minerals. This means that superheated stones, earths, and metals can also be controlled by Magenous's will. Upon command, Magenous can also conjure a steady stream of incredible heat that will quickly burn, melt, or inflame nearly anything within seconds. Because of this, the golem has access to molten earth in almost any setting. In addition to there other powers, Magneous can also emit roaring flames from the cavities in its body. With but a thought, a stream of flame can erupt from its mouth, eyes, chest, hands, and/or joints in an instant.
Towering Threat
A colossus of proportions worthy of Death Mountain claim, the mighty Magneous is a massive being. Not only is it about 5 meters in height and width, its strength is augmented by Eldin's blessing mixed with unholy enchantments and its speed is that of a creature half its size. The golem has little difficulty engaging with several enemies simultaneously and solo duels against Magneous are suicidal. It can wipe out unprepared armies with little effort and prepared armies with some effort. Only through elite skill, intelligent tactics and exploiting Mageneous's unknown weaknesses can any ever hope to stand against this abomination.
Impervious and Imperious
With a body composed of dense stone dug from the abyssal depths of Hyrule's underworld bound together by advanced metal alloy bonds and black magic, Krakatoa's creation is near indestructable. Most weaponry breaks instantly upon contact with Magneous, and even weapons enchanted for durability bounce off harmlessly more often than not. Many types of magic are also diminished greatly upon making contact with the construct. While water or ice might seem good countermeasures, it would seem Magneous is extremely resilient to these elements. Its artificial mind is like a steel trap, too, as any attempt at mind control or manipulation is futile as the golem is immune. This also applies to poison, disease, and other ailments that would harm a living being.
