Lake Illumini is a beautiful little lake in the middle of nowhere. Surrounded by trees, the lake is found in a cozy little glade, which would have been a lovely place for people to visit, had more known of it. Instead it is a watering hole for animals, but they too tend to stay away from 'that' place, from where often comes strange noises, the occasional explosion and all manner of mystical wonderments.
On occasion an adventurer has stumbled into this little glade, only to find a a nice place for a refreshing swim, to fill their waterskins or to just take in the nature. Those of a more inquisitive nature might find that cleverly disguised into the side of the mountain there is a door, which would be the source of the strange noises. Those knowledgeable in Hylian (and Shiekah) lore, would know it is the workshop of the brilliant researcher Vantian Azim. While he doesn't necessarily like visitors when he's working, he has been known to invite stragglers every once in a while for a little tour of his workshop, carved into the side of the mountain.
Vantian Azim was humming lowly as he was examining his notes. His latest experiment was bold, dangerous and...Intriguing. He just needed to come up with a way to produce enough energy to make it work, and he thought he was onto something. If he only just.. 'Ahem'. There was a slight coughing sound, although more metallic, behind him and Vantian slowly lifted his gaze from his notes, looking over his shoulder.
It was his assistant, Mobile Artificial Intelligent Drone, or M.A.I.D for short. Serving as assistant, housekeeper and bodyguard, the automaton did anything he asked of it, and while it disturbed him now, it was probably due to something important.
'Terribly sorry, Master', M.A.I.D said. 'But you told me to remind you that your associate comes to visit today'. Vantian turned around and looked at his assistant, taking a second to admire his work. She truly was a marvel of technology.
Some found her terrifying, which was the whole point. She wouldn't harm a fly unless he told her to, but it was good that she kept intruders on their toes. Equipped with a pair of extendable blades, able to produce electricity, not unlike his own weapons. She was as deadly as she was good at keeping the workshop tidied, and she was VERY good at that.
He put his book down and adjusted his glasses, speaking with his slow, deep voice. "Excellent, M.A.I.D, I must have lost track of time again. Being so wrapped up in my work. I assume everything is in order?".
'Yes, Master', the automaton replied. 'Everything has been prepared as per your request, and I have put the water to a boil, as I assume our guest will want some tea'. Vantian nodded, pleased with what she said. "On point as always, M", he said calmly, a smirk playing on his handsome face. It was satisfying to see such exquisite exactness, and it was all his work.
The M.A.I.D automaton was one of his first inventions, his graduating project from his time under the tutelage of the Shiekah. A marvel of technology, he had graduated with highest marks, of course. The very reason his laboratory was at such a secluded location was that if he had set up shop in the middle of town, he would not have a calm moment with people asking him for help with mundane things.
Now, if one was under the impression that he didn't WANT to help the townsfolk, they'd be wrong. He WANTED to help them with all their mundane tasks, he wanted to make life easier for everyone, but he needed peace and quiet to achieve it.
Vantian put down his notes, moving them a little to the side so they were neatly and symmetrically placed. "According to my calculations, assuming our guest isn't late, they should knock on the door in five seconds. Four. Three. Two. One".
